About Us
Registered in 1983 under the Societies Registration Act of XXI
of 1860, the Institute has grown into a major national center with
considerable international repute. It is also registered under the
Income Tax Act as well as Foreign Contribution Regulation Act. In
addition, it is also registered with the NitiAyog, Government of India.
It is a life member of Indian Association of Social Science
Institutions, Global Water Partnership and India Water Partnership.
The Institute imparts education and conducts research. The Indira
Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has designated it as a
Programme Study Center (PSC) for imparting education to students in
computer applications for its CIT and BCA degrees. The research
activities of the Institute are concerned with aspects related to
welfare and development of people, specially those belonging to the
weaker sections as well as women. These deal with socio-economic,
institutional and environmental aspects of rural and urban development
involving utilization of resources like land, water, forests, manpower
etc. The Institute takes up studies and research, undertakes field
surveys, impact evaluation works and micro level planning. The
Institute has completed several projects and programs under the above
heads. Besides, it also conducts training programmes for in-service
officers and organizes policy dialogues, seminars & conferences
giving attention to welfare, environment and development.
The Institute has its own spacious building having a roof top solar
system in an easily accessible area in Delhi. It has a growing library,
a large computer center, seminar/class rooms, and all basic equipments.
